Learn From The Most Successful People

Learn From The Most Successful People On The Planet

If you want to be successful, study successful people.

Being successful is not easy – but there are a distinct set of “rules”.

If you follow those rules, you will almost certainly become a successful person.

What “successful” means is solely for you to decide.

However, success is not a destination, it is an ongoing journey and to be successful in life, you need to work for it daily.

If you’re struggling or you feel like you’re stuck in a rut, it’s time to seek outside inspiration.

What better place to find inspiration than in the stories of successful people!

However, mere admiration of those people is inadequate.

Your aim is to do what they do, so you can have the kind of success they’ve found.

Once you’ve learned the formula, you’ll realize you have what it takes to be great, too!

To this end, we present this course for your inspiration. It’s divided into two modules:

1. Dare to Dream

2. Make Your Dreams Come True

You’ll learn about the lives of many successful people.

Through their words of wisdom, you’ll discover an important facet of success from each of them.

The ideas in this course can inspire you to change your life.

They will help you create the incredible life that you aspire to live.

Study each quote, reflect on the discussion, and then put the tips for each quote into action.

The quotations can be interpreted in many ways, so feel free to put your own spin on it.

What does each quote mean to you?

Tips for Success From Successful People

As you proceed through the course, use these strategies to enable the success of others to inspire you to make your dreams come true:

1. Interview other successful people. Successful people are all around you. They may be in your family, at your work place, or in your community. Make an effort to sit with them and understand their inspirations. Take the time to transfer that knowledge to your plan of action.

– What makes them tick? What gives them the drive to go after the next goal? You’ll likely discover they find their own inspiration in whatever means the most to them.

– Learn what you can about how the road to each goal was traveled. The ups and downs of life contribute to the pride you feel once you achieve a desired goal.

2. Take a shot at similar goals. Consider the kind of goals successful people set their sights on. Is there a common denominator? How does each goal relate to the others? Consider a similar path.

– Often, you’ll find that each objective of someone successful ties in to their overall mission in life. Perhaps their goal is happiness, while in other cases it may be wealth or status.

– Consider whether their overall mission relates to yours. Then and only then can you proceed with going after similar goals. Otherwise, stick to what matters to you.

3. Showcase your skill set. Embrace your abilities and use them to go after specific goals. It’s possible that your current ambitions aren’t the ones destined to bring you great success.

– Believe that your strengths are meant to be used for greatness. It’s certainly possible to acquire new skills. But avoid overlooking what you’re naturally good at. Your talents may make achieving goals an even quicker process for you.

– Find ways to use your natural abilities to help others in need. Sometimes profound success comes out of charity!

4.    Sharpen weaker abilities. Those who are successful try to continuously get better. Just like you, they have weaknesses. But what’s important is the effort you make to overcome them. What are your weaker abilities?

– Successful individuals learn something new every day. They use every opportunity they have to increase their knowledge base. As you continue to learn new skills and sharpen your current ones, you’ll find more opportunities opening up for you.

Greatness is a state of mind. It can easily transform your life into a series of incredible successes. Just consider how it transformed the lives of those who shared their success stories.

You’re just as talented as those who are successful, so it’s a great idea to be inspired by them. But more importantly, recognize that their inspiration helps you identify how much talent you already have. You possess the ability to achieve any goal that’s important to you!

Get ready. Your dream life is waiting for you to go after it. Enjoy the course and be inspired to build a life you’ll love, starting today!

Here’s what you need to do today:

– What goal in your life is near and dear to your heart?

– Who do you know that has been successful in their own pursuit of a similar goal?

– Interview them and discover how they did it.

– Can you apply some of the same techniques to fuel your success?

Learn From The Most Successful People: Anne Campbell – Choose Your Dream

In the last lesson, you learned how everyone dreams. Your dreams are highly effective in giving you inspiration. Today, Anne Campbell’s wise words can bring you the realization that you get to choose your own dream. Yes, you can go after your heart’s desire!

Anne Campbell’s Words of Wisdom:

“You can plant a dream.” ~Anne Campbell

This short, simple saying packs a pretty big punch. One interpretation is that, regardless of where you are in life, you can illustrate your own picture of what you’d like your life to be like.

The quote implies that a dream doesn’t just come to you randomly. You can decide what your dream will be.

Plant your own dream by trying these tips:

1. Make a decision about where you want to live. A huge part of cultivating your own dream is being in the place where you can make it happen.

2. Ask if you’re in the job that you would choose now for yourself. What you spend your time doing each day is an important aspect of your life. Ensure that it’s fascinating and wonderful to you.

3. Do what you love to do. What activities bring out your passion? Do you make time to do some of them each day? Planting your own dream means that you’ll allow yourself the time and opportunity to go after that which delivers anticipation, joy, and interest to you.

4. Feed and water your dream. Arrange your life around what you want. Only then can you get past the planting stage. For example, perhaps you dream of becoming a golf pro, but the nearest golf course is 20 miles away. What could you do to make it easier for you to golf more often?

Planting your dream can be scary, exciting, and invigorating. It might also take some time and planning.

However, when you acknowledge your own hopes, you’re one step closer to achieving and living them.

Unleash your passion for what you desire and create a life that truly brings you joy!

Your next lesson shows you how you can put aside those who try to stop your dream from coming true. See you there!

Here’s what you need to do today:

Determine one aspect that you desire to be present in the dreams of your most wonderful life. Choose this dream and spend time dreaming about it, planning it, and figuring out the steps that take you toward fulfilling this dream.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Ayn Rand: Recognize Opportunity

The previous lesson reiterated the necessity of learning the lessons provided by your failures.

Learn and continue to move forward, and good things will happen. It’s just a matter of time.

Ayn Rand was a writer and philosopher.

Her works and ideas are still popular today. According to Rand, success is about taking full advantage of one’s opportunities.

Ayn Rand’s Winning Words:

“The ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity.” ~Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand, a prolific writer born in Russia, experienced great success in her lifetime.

Over 25 million of her books have sold and all of her books are still in print, although she died in 1982.

Rand’s quote gets to the heart of the cultivation of success — recognizing opportunity and taking advantage of it.

Her description of success being a ladder is apt because, in order to be successful, one must notice and take advantage of many opportunities throughout life.

Her quote illustrates that each opportunity leads to another step up to the next opportunity.

Rand’s quote implies it’s rare to go from nothing to success in one step. Instead, you’re led to succeed through the opportunities you notice and take advantage of.

How to Apply Ayn Rand’s Tip to Your Life

It’s best not to expect success to come all at once with little time or effort:

– Think of success as something you can achieve step by step.

– Each step or “rung” is an opportunity.

– In order to benefit the most, keep your eyes open to whatever opportunities come your way.

– The more opportunities you recognize and utilize, the more likely it is you’ll be successful.

Some opportunities will be disguised to look like obstacles or will present great challenges to you.

Open your mind to the possibilities that these situations bring to you.

As you tackle each situation, consider it an opportunity and find a way to use it to your advantage. Those opportunities will help you progress up the ladder of success.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Make a list of opportunities you have available to you right now. Consider all facets of your life. What can you do to take full advantage of them?

Learn From The Most Successful People: Christopher Reeve – Make Your Dream Inevitable

“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then, they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” ~Christopher Reeve

The last lesson used the inspiring words of Walt Disney in discussing the importance of leaving your fear behind when pursuing your dreams. In this lesson, Christopher Reeve talks about how you can make your dream a certainty.

Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic due to a horse-riding accident in his early 40s.

Even as a quadriplegic, Reeve went on to act, write books and screenplays, direct in film, and become involved in activism for those with spinal-cord injuries.

This particular quote of Reeve’s carries a powerful message to all who dare to dream.

In this quote, Reeve points out that when a dream first enters your mind, it might seem ludicrous to even think it could come to pass.

Later, down the road, it seems not likely that it could ever happen.

Ultimately, though, if you determine by your own personal choice that you will make your dream happen, you’ll see your end result is “inevitable.”

Make your dreams inevitable with these actions:

1. Allow an outlet for your dreams. Find ways to express your dreams. Draw pictures or paint something to signify them. Take a walk each morning and use the time to think about the logistics of making your dream happen. Meditate on your dream for ten minutes in the morning.

2. Even if you believe your dreams are impossible, continue ahead. Rather than ceasing to think about them, charge forward and problem-solve your way around all obstacles.

3. Decide to pursue your dream. Make a conscious decision to begin doing small things that relate to what you want in life. You could even say out loud something like, “I am making this happen by doing everything necessary to accomplish my desired results.”

4. Act on your ideas. For example, perhaps you think that giving to others who are less fortunate than yourself is a wonderful thing, yet you’ve done nothing with this thought. Maybe it’s time to follow through with some of your ideas.

5. Set up mini-goals and celebrate when you achieve them. For example, if one of your dreams is a trip to Hawaii, what could you do now to get started in that direction? Identifying several mini-goals will compel you to move forward.

– Feel free to jot down everything you’d do in advance of the trip. Perhaps now, you could read a book about Hawaiian history. Then, you can research specific Hawaiian landmarks you’d like to visit. Next, gather info to help you determine what your travel budget should be. And so on, until you make it to Hawaii.

Allowing your thoughts to flow wherever, whenever, and however, they come to you is an integral part of the process of accomplishing your life goals.

To achieve something, you must first dream about it.

In the next lesson, we’ll pause to summarize and reflect on this Dare to Dream module.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Keep your dream alive! Make a list of activities that you could do each day to support your dream, such as drawing, journaling, and more that relate to your dream.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Dale Carnegie: Embrace Your Failures

In the last lesson, we learned the value of taking action, regardless of everything else that might be going on.

Picasso largely became wealthy and famous because he never stopped painting, even toward the end of his life.

If you’re continuously taking action, you’re bound to take a few missteps from time to time.

Dale Carnegie used his own failures to his advantage. He learned from each failure and found a more effective approach.

Dale Carnegie said:

“Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” ~Dale Carnegie

The master of public speaking and communication and the author of, “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” Dale Carnegie is another example of someone who experienced great success in his work.

Carnegie stressed that you must experience discouragement and failure in your life in order to find success. He believed that through examining your experiences of failures, you can gain the knowledge that will propel you to success.

How to Apply Dale Carnegie’s Tip to Your Life

Instead of fearing failures and trying to avoid thinking about how you failed at something, look closely at your mistakes.

You’ll surely learn how to avoid those mistakes in the future.

Even your feelings of discouragement will eventually lead you down the path of success as you seek more positive outcomes.

Try this process to help you use your failures as stepping stones to success:

1. Ask yourself why something didn’t work. If you can figure out a probable reason, you can avoid the same process as you try new ideas that might work. Or, if you’re developing a skill for your goal, you may decide that you just need more practice to fine-tune your skill.

2. Come up with a new strategy. Brainstorm ideas for new ways to approach your current challenge or get back on track toward your goal.

3. Try out your new idea right away. “Jumping back on the horse” will keep you moving toward your goal and allow you to avoid wasting time bemoaning your setback. If you let too much time pass before you continue on, your motivation could wane as you wallow in your misery.

4. Repeat this process if your new idea doesn’t work. There’s no shame in trying an idea that doesn’t achieve the goal. If your idea doesn’t work, learn from it, and move on.

Consider your failures as an important education in what it takes to achieve.

Whether you learn to stop doing something or that perhaps you should have done something differently, examine your failures and feelings of discouragement.

Use them productively to then build your fact base for success.

Put your failure to good use; learn from it so you can continue on your path to excellence.

Above all, remember that the only way you can really fail is to give up.

As long as you’re still working toward your goal, you haven’t failed in your quest. Failures along the way just let you know how not to do something. Your next idea may be just the one that brings you success!

Few things just fall into your lap, but enough fall close by for you to be successful. Seizing the opportunities you’ve been given is the topic of the next lesson.

Here’s what you need to do today:

– Take a look at your three biggest failures in pursuing your goals.

– Ask yourself why they happened.

– Determine what likely would have been a more effective approach.

– Is it desirable or possible for you to resume pursuing these goals with a new approach?

Learn From The Most Successful People: David Frost: Discover Your Passion

Welcome to Module 2, where we’ll move on to making your dreams come true!

People who have already been successful provide many valuable clues.

Their wise decisions and mistakes provide a roadmap for those who want to accomplish similar things.

When it comes to striving for success, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

There are many people who’ve made their marks on the world by achieving incredible success in their work.

You can follow in their footsteps and achieve your own success!

Your journey to success can be as simple as going from point A to point B.

Or it can be similar to “the long and winding road.”

But no matter your path, certain elements most likely need to be present for you to achieve ultimate success.

You’ll develop your own winning ways when you discover your passion, have faith, take responsibility, and think positive.

Also, taking action, embracing your failures and recognizing opportunities will galvanize you in your quest for success. Finally, having mentors, confronting and resolving obstacles and enjoying your journey are also important steps on the road to success.

This module includes tips from people who excel (or excelled) in their chosen fields. Each quote focuses on a major theme that’s integral to the achievement of success.

Think about how you would interpret the wise words offered.

We’ve also included action tips for applying the information in your own life. These gems of wisdom, if you choose to use them, will bring you closer to achieving the success you desire.  First up, we’ll take a look at David Frost.

Winning Words from David Frost:

“Don’t aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.” ~David Frost

David Frost, a British journalist and media personality, encapsulated one of the most important concepts of being successful: find something you’re truly passionate about and do it.

If you feel strongly about something, no matter what it is, you’ll most likely enjoy perfecting your skills in that field and becoming an authority on your subject matter – fueling your success.

Your chances of being successful are vastly increased when you’re passionate about what you’re doing.

How to Apply David Frost’s Tip to Your Life

Once you discover your passion, keep doing it to achieve success.

For example:

– If you loved to work on cars as a teen, figure out a way to continue your mechanical pursuits and get paid for them as an adult.

– If you’re passionate about baking cookies and cakes, bake plenty of these pastries and sell them.

You see, when you do what you love, you’ll enjoy the time you spend doing it. Plus, you’ll be compelled to experiment more with your chosen work and become better and better at whatever it is you’re doing. Your confidence will surge. So, too, will your success.

Try these tips to bring more of what you love into your work life:

1. What do you enjoy most? If your current career isn’t one of your choices, then consider bringing one of your hobbies into your work life. By building a career around a beloved hobby, you’ll enjoy your work considerably; then work will be more like play. Rather than quitting your job to do your hobby, try building a side income with your hobby first.

2. How can you monetize it? Determine several ways you can make a profit from your hobby. Could you sell what you make? Can you teach others your skills? Could you start a related business selling hobby supplies to others? Can you start a website where you discuss your hobby and sell advertising on it to bring in regular income?

3. Get started. Whatever plans you make for turning what you love into your work, take action toward making it a reality. For example, if you want further education or certification in your chosen line of work, enroll in a class. If you’re going to sell what you make, make some items and sell them – you could use Craigslist, eBay, put up a website, and more.

Passion and enthusiasm are an important component of achieving great and lasting success.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Imagine you could be successful at anything. What would you choose? Does the idea of achieving it fill you with passion and excitement? If not, can you think of an alternative that does?

Learn From The Most Successful People: Douglas Adams – Nix the Naysayers

“He was a dreamer, a thinker, a speculative philosopher…or, as his wife would have it, an idiot.” ~Douglas Adams

In the last lesson, you learned how you can choose your dream. This lesson shows you how you can get past anyone who tries to stop you from pursuing it.

Douglas Adams’ quote brings humor to the whole idea of dreaming, yet encases a powerful point. Regardless of what you can think or dream up, there will always be someone who attempts to put a damper on it.

Ponder these suggestions about how to dream your biggest dreams, regardless of the naysayers:

1. Develop your own philosophies. When you let yourself consider what could be, you’re building a thought-by-thought philosophy of your own.

2. Accept the fact that there may be others who disagree with your ideas. Use their negativity to spur you forward to accomplish your goals.

3. List the subjects that you find yourself thinking about. Look for recurrent themes. For example, maybe you find yourself disagreeing with the politics that your co-workers often espouse. Although you can avoid opening up to them about your disagreement, you can at least identify subjects that hold great importance to you.

4. What do you think are the most important aspects of life? Have ideas and opinions about things, especially things that matter personally. Dream. Think. Speculate.

5. Refuse to allow anyone to deter you. Regardless of what others do or do not believe, carry on with your speculations about what your future can hold. Rather than seek outside reinforcement from others, provide for yourself the impetus you require to move forward in creating your ideal life.

Develop the confidence to share your dreams by:

1. Writing down what you’ll say when you talk about your dreams with someone else. Seeing your ideas and dreams on paper will help you focus on what you really want.

2. Practicing saying it in front of a mirror. Maybe you’ve never talked about your dreams. Familiarize yourself with how they’ll sound by saying them a few times aloud to yourself.

3. Planning a time to share your thoughts. You can do this one casually so as not to overly draw attention to your desired discussion. For example, you can tell your husband something like, “Let’s have a nice, quiet dinner at home this evening,” to ensure you’ll have the time and the relaxed atmosphere to openly talk about your hopes for the future.

4. Strengthening your resolve. Tell yourself the reasons why you want to share your dreams with the one you chose. Are they involved somehow in your best life plan? Next, tell yourself you can do this because you deserve to live your dreams.

You’ll encounter those who are sure that you’re crazy for even thinking you could achieve your dreams.

Accept the fact that others may not understand the relevance of your dreams to your life, and then dream on anyway.

If you stay the course and remain attached to your dreams, you just might reach your highest heights.

Here’s what you need to do today:

– Have the naysayers in your life caused you to give up on any dreams? Which dreams?

– Decide today to put those dreams back on your agenda anyway.

– What can you do today to take a step forward toward those dreams? Take that step.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Jack Kerouac – We All Dream – Be Open to Yours!

Your dreams are an important part of your inspiration.

Today, we’ll look at what the famous author Jack Kerouac has to say about dreams.

If you can imagine what you really want and allow your dreams to come to the surface of your mind, you can do great things!

You have the power to achieve the life you’ve always wanted, simply by opening your mind to the dreams you may have been afraid to dream in the past.

Words of Wisdom from Jack Kerouac:

“All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.” ~Jack Kerouac

Kerouac believed that having life dreams is a given for each of us.

And because all humans dream, we’re connected to each other because of of having our own desires.

The occurrence of our dreams then is an intimate way that we can understand each other because we’re all engaging in the same type of thinking and imagining of what we can achieve in life.

How far can you go in imagining whatever you want in life?

It’s comforting to know that we all share the promise of dreaming up the existence we want.

Consider these suggestions to be open to your dreams:

1. Tap into what truly matters to you. Maybe your dream is to run your own business, travel the world, or own a piece of land with a modest home. Ponder your greatest wishes.

2. Make your life be an illustration of your fondest hopes. The best wish you can have for yourself is that, in your daily existence, you show yourself and others what your dreams are. In simplistic terms, live your dreams.

3. Encourage yourself to ponder your dreams daily. Think about the specifics of your life’s dreams sometime during your day, regardless of how busy you are. You can even do so at the same time several days a week. For example, if you get a break at work in the morning, you could use that time to think about your dreams.

4. Recognize that it’s human to have wishes and hopes. It’s never silly or childish to have dreams. As Kerouac has said, all humankind possesses their wishes and hopes for what they want their lives to be. The same goes for you.

5. Share your truest dreams out loud with someone. Hearing yourself speak about your dreams is inspiring and helps to clarify the goals you truly wish to pursue. Try it.

We’re all in this life together, dreaming our own personal magic within.

The sooner you accept this concept, the easier it will be for you to allow yourself to be more forthcoming and open with yourself and others about what you yearn for.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Open your calendar and schedule a short time each day in which you can think about your dreams.

Perhaps you would like to reflect on your dreams for a few minutes upon awakening or right before you go to sleep.

This timing gives you the chance to either start or end your day on a highly positive note!

Learn From The Most Successful People: Michael Jordan: Confront and Resolve Obstacles

In the last lesson, you discovered the value of having a mentor.

Mentors generally don’t advertise, so it’s up to you to track them down and make the request.

A mentor can shave years off your learning curve.

Now, we’ll look at obstacles and how to deal with them, according to Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan’s Words of Wisdom:

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” ~Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan, one of the world’s most loved professional basketball players and entrepreneur, makes some relevant points.

Jordan reminds us that when we’re working toward accomplishing goals, we’ll run in to obstacles. It’s necessary to expect them on your road to success. However, these obstacles must not deter you. Instead, confront your challenges, figure out how to resolve the issues, and then fix them.

From the choice of wording, it’s clear that Jordan believes if a person is creative enough, he can rise above any obstacle that appears before him. Basically, Jordan tells us to expect troublesome situations and “figure out” solutions to those roadblocks in order to be successful.

How to Apply Michael Jordan’s Tip to Your Life

It’s always wise to be prepared. Recognize that it’s normal to experience bumps in the road on your way to a better life. Expect these bumps so you won’t be shocked or thrown too far from the path when they occur.

You must be willing to confront roadblocks and then tackle them with a vengeance:

– Put on your thinking cap and brainstorm ways to get past your challenge.

– Talk to your friends.

– Seek advice from your mentor.

– Try anything and everything to solve your dilemma.

Don’t give up or stop until you’ve figured it out.

Sometimes the most wonderful thing happens when you think your way through an issue: success!

Here’s what you need to do today:

– Choose a current challenge you’re facing.

– Brainstorm several possible solutions to work around that obstacle.

– Put your plan into action.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Oprah Winfrey: Take Responsibility

The combination of passion and faith will take you far.

Steve Jobs needed to have a lot of faith in himself and his mission to make Apple successful.

Oprah Winfrey has also enjoyed massive success.

She places a premium on personal responsibility. Let’s see what Oprah can teach us in this lesson.

She once said:

“I don’t think of myself as a poor deprived ghetto girl who made good. I think of myself as somebody who from an early age knew I was responsible for myself, and I had to make good.”~Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is a one-of-a-kind businesswoman, talk show host, actress, and media mogul who now owns a television network. Winfrey focuses on how she took responsibility for her own life at an early age.

In this quote, Winfrey stresses that she never thought of herself as someone who was “poor” or “deprived.”

She chose not to see herself as disadvantaged in any way.

Instead, she regarded herself as equal to everyone else and, like anyone else, knew she was the one responsible for her own life. Even as a young person, she was compelled to do something with her life.

She knew no one else would do it for her.

Winfrey brings home the importance of taking control of your own life. She viewed her personal sense of responsibility as the key to “making good.”

How to Apply Oprah Winfrey’s Tip to Your Life

Regardless of your background, you can be successful if you take responsibility for your own future.

Consider these ideas:

1. Circumstances don’t control your future. Refuse to allow your personal situation to color your sense of who you truly are or what you can accomplish.

– Instead, view yourself as capable of achieving anything you set out to accomplish.

– Seek solutions to your challenges so you can keep moving forward toward your goals.

2. Your success doesn’t depend on luck, where you live, or whether you’re rich or poor. It does depend, however, on how you step up to take responsibility for yourself. Avoid blaming others, making excuses, or just wishing things will get better.

Taking responsibility is easier when you think positively. Thomas Jefferson advocated positive thinking, which will be covered in the next lesson.

Here’s what you need to do today:

– Make a list of the excuses you tell yourself to justify not taking action toward your goals.

– Now, imagine yourself as a highly responsible person that would never rely on excuses. How would you feel and think if you were that person? What would you do differently?

Learn From The Most Successful People: Pablo Picasso: Take Action

A positive attitude feels good and fills you with confidence.

It certainly worked wonders for Thomas Jefferson.

It could do the same for you! Hopefully, your thoughts are more positive because of the previous lesson.

This lesson is about taking action. Nothing happens without action.

Words of Wisdom from Pablo Picasso:

“Action is the foundational key to all success.”~Pablo Picasso

Known worldwide for his paintings and sculptures, the Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso, was also a co-creator of a popular movement in art known as “cubism.” Picasso’s quote reflects that he knew what it would take to be successful. He believed that the most basic tenet to achieving goals is to take action.

Even when people didn’t seem interested in his art, Picasso just kept painting, sculpting and creating, no matter what. He put into practice what he believed: if a person takes action, he’ll succeed. The essence of Picasso’s quote is, “do something” to make success happen.

How to Apply Pablo Picasso’s Tip to Your Life

You must do something related to your goals if you want to achieve them.

The most basic key to accomplishing something is to simply take action.

– Focus less on the details.

– Don’t be concerned about doing something wrong.

– Just get started.

– Continue to do whatever it is you’ve chosen and the actions you take will lead you to success.

For your big goals, divide them into small, achievable steps that will lead you ever forward until you’ve accomplished your biggest desires.

It’s much easier to take action when you only have a small mini-goal to work on.

However, achieving these small goals one by one will bring great success.

For example, if you have a goal to lose 30 pounds, you can do this in 30 weeks by losing a pound a week. Each week, focus only on losing 1 pound. This is a goal you can achieve.

Each week, determine what you can do to lose that 1 pound – whether it’s cutting back on sodas, sweets, or chips, going for evening walks, or taking the stairs at work – and follow through with whatever action it takes to get it done.

Here’s what you need to do today:

1. Divide your most important goal into mini-goals that will lead to the big goal. Plan mini-goals that you can accomplish in a short period of time – say three weeks maximum.

2. Divide those mini-goals into even shorter steps that you can take daily or weekly. If you made weekly goals, what can you do each day to move you forward to achieving that goal?

3. Take your first step today.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Steve Jobs: Have Faith

Last time, you saw how passion and enthusiasm make success more certain.

They make the process more fun, too!

This lesson discusses what Steve Jobs had to say about faith and moving forward despite uncertainty.

Steve Jobs created one of the most successful companies of all time. You’ve no doubt heard of him, the co-founder of Apple, Incorporated, and a successful entrepreneur and businessman who created iPods, iPhones, iPads, and numerous other technological wonders you can’t live without.

Consider the winning words of Steve Jobs:

“Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” ~Steve Jobs

The idea behind Jobs’ quote is significant because he talks about how you can’t know everything when you first set out to do something.

Jobs believed one just has to have faith that in the scheme of life, what he does will eventually have an impact. Jobs stressed that you must have trust in what you’re doing.

When you have that faith, you’ll continue your journey, doing what you have faith in. It’s only later, down the road, when you can look back and see the impact of your work.

How to Apply Steve Jobs’ Tip to Your Life

Even though you may not have a complete sense of how what you want to do will fit into the big scheme of things, if you truly feel it’s what you should be doing or that it’s the right thing to do, then just follow through with your pursuits.

Have faith that you’re supposed to be doing what you’ve chosen.

Regardless of whether you believe in destiny or prefer to listen to your gut: what does your internal “trust-meter” tell you to do?

If you trust your instincts that something you want to do will be effective or useful to someone, then pursue it and keep doing it. If you continue in the pursuits you have faith in, you won’t be disappointed. Your work will eventually come to fruition.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Faith is necessary if you can’t see the path to completion.

The more you learn along the way, the more your path may shift.

How much faith do you have in yourself regarding your current success journey?

Does a lack of faith hinder your progress?

Are you willing to believe in yourself in the face of uncertainty?

How much more successful will you likely be if you had a high level of faith?

Pick one small project in your life where you lack faith and resolve to complete it, no matter what.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Walt Disney – Leave Fear Behind

“All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” ~Walt Disney

This one short statement sums up well what can happen when we follow our dreams. His story is pretty inspiring, when it comes to truly living your dreams.

You’re probably familiar with Walt Disney.

He was a famous business entrepreneur and cartoonist, who developed, wrote, produced, and directed his own television shorts, shows, and series, as well as cartoons and films, from 1927 until his death.

Disney was truly a dreamer as he came from humble beginnings in Chicago, rising to become one of the world’s most famous Americans. Disney no doubt began dreaming at a young age and continued doing so throughout his life.

Disney’s dreams are evident through the multitude of cartoon characters he created, with one of his first-developed characters being Mickey Mouse.

Indeed, because of his dreams, several venues were built around the world to spread his art, joy, and stories: Walt Disney World in Florida, Disneyland in California, Tokyo Disney, Euro Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland.

The power and promise of dreaming is evident, not only throughout Walt Disney’s life, but long after his death in 1966.

His brother, Roy, continued to live out Disney’s fantasies and plans for the future, and then Walt Disney’s surviving children and grandchildren have followed suit upon Roy’s death.

The incredible, depth, breadth, and reach into the future of Walt Disney’s dreams are true testaments to what can happen if you pursue your dreams.

In his quotation, Disney mentions courage as an integral precursor to bringing dreams to fruition.

His statement illustrates that if you have the guts to go after what you want, you can make your dreams happen.

These strategies will help you follow those dreams:

1. Have courage. Rather than be afraid, jump in with both feet. Be brave enough to set out to accomplish your goals. Expect to feel the anxiety and fear of casting caution to the wind, but continue forward anyway.

2. Create a vision board. As your thoughts and dreams solidify, make a vision board that pictures all the things you dream about. Pick up a piece of poster board from your local discount store. Clip pictures from magazines or the newspaper that relate to your personal vision and glue them to the poster board. Write your comments and draw on it, too.

3. Take action. Pursue whatever it is you want with a vengeance. Do something each day to move toward your desired goal. For example, read about your interest. Go to your local library and talk to the librarian about how to find information about it.

4. Consider roadblocks as challenges. Expect to come upon obstacles to your goals. Remind yourself that figuring out how to navigate around the roadblocks will make achieving your goal that much sweeter.

5. Keep your momentum going. When you believe that all your dreams can come true when you have courage and pursue them, you’ll be able to continue ahead with renewed strength and resolve.

Never underestimate your power to make your dreams come true.

Think of Walt Disney, his life, and what great things continue to be developed because of his fantasies. If one man can accomplish all of that with his dreams, what can you do with yours?

Here’s what you need to do today:

Create a vision board that inspires you to go after your dreams. You’ll find a helpful article in your Additional Resources box that gives you tips for making an effective vision board and getting the most from it.

Learn From The Most Successful People: Warren Buffett: Find Mentors Whom You Can Emulate

There are opportunities you’re failing to act upon. Using those opportunities is pivotal to your success.

That’s the primary message of the previous lesson. This lesson moves you forward to finding mentors to help you succeed.

Warren Buffett has amassed one of the largest fortunes the world has ever seen. He attributes the use of a mentor to much of that success. You can find a mentor to help you, too.

Warren Buffett said:

“It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you’ll drift in that direction.” ~Warren Buffett

A successful American businessman and fearless investor, Warren Buffett has identified one of the most important tips of being successful: seek mentors. Buffett’s quote emphasizes that a person must reach out to those who know more in order to be successful.

Selecting successful people to fraternize with provides you with wonderful role models, free education, and information about how those people excel. As you spend time with them, you’ll tend to copy their behaviors, become more motivated, and achieve your own success.

Known for his common sense approach to investing and managing money, Buffett has applied this same mantra when finding mentors to emulate.

How to Apply Warren Buffett’s Tip to Your Life

Spending time with people who have more knowledge, business savvy, expertise, and even creativity can rub off on you. When you choose to spend time with people you want to be like, you’re provided with a treasure trove of information about how those peers work and achieve their goals.

Hanging out with them presents the wonderful advantage to you of being exposed to information that will help you reach your goals. To be inspired, hang out with the best. Seek and find at least one mentor in your professional field. Soak up all the information he offers. Listen well. Observe how he approaches work and life.

Then, try to apply what you see and learn in your own life. If you want to be more successful, surround yourself with successful people whom you can learn from and model after. You’ll be compelled to be successful, just like them.

Here’s what you need to do today:

– Choose one goal you’d like to work on and find an appropriate mentor.

– Approach that person and ask them to mentor you.

– Keep going until you find a mentor you respect and trust that’s willing to work with you.

Zig Ziglar: Enjoy the Journey

Let’s consider what Zig Ziglar has to say about enjoying the journey of success, and not just the final destination.

Zig Ziglar said:

“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.” ~Zig Ziglar

A motivational speaker and author of 25 books, Zig Ziglar has captured a very important aspect of success in this quote. He emphasizes that a person can simply use whatever he has to achieve success.

Ziglar makes the point that success is less connected to receiving something than it is with doing something — taking action to get what you want. You must put forth some effort to succeed. But it’s not necessary to win every race in order to ultimately achieve your goals.

Reach within to discover the best of what you have to give while you’re reaching for the stars. Ziglar believes if you do this, you have arrived — you are successful.

How to Apply Zig Ziglar’s Tip to Your Life

Achieving success is a journey. No matter where you are or what you have, you can start your road to success from there. Taking action to do whatever it is you’ve chosen and putting forth your greatest efforts will move you further in that journey.

The more you try, the more likely you are to achieve your dream. It’s unnecessary to try to live up to someone else’s standards. Instead, look inside for your own standards and work to achieve them. Be the best you can be and your journey will bring you success.

That’s the final successful person we’ll look at in this module. Next, we’ll summarize and reflect on what we’ve learned.

Here’s what you need to do today:

Which of your goals requires more effort to ensure your success? Determine an action you should be doing more of to reach this goal and double your efforts.
